Speech-Language Pathologists

 

Kristen Savage, M.S. CCC-SLP
Language Center Coordinator


Kristen has been a speech-language pathologist since 2005 and has been working at the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center since July 2006.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2003 and her Master of Science degree from the University of Arizona in 2005.  Kristen holds a California license in Speech-Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Kristen previously worked as a speech-language pathologist in the Solana Beach School District, where she worked with preschool-aged children with a wide range of disabilities.  She is trained in PECS (The Picture Exchange Communication System), It Takes Two to Talk – The Hanen Program for Parents, and Target Word – The Hanen Program for Parents of Children who are Late Talkers.  She is also a member of the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CSHA).  Her interests include preschool language disorders, articulation disorders, phonological disorders, and parent training and education.


 

 

Tina Burns, M.A. CCC-SLP


Tina has been a speech-language pathologist since 2005 and has been working at the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center since October 2007.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University in 2003 and her Master of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2005.  Tina holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and is licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of California. 

Prior to working at the Scottish Rite, Tina worked as a speech-language pathologist in the San Diego Unified School District, where she worked with preschool and elementary school-aged populations.  She is PROMPT (PROMPTs for Restructuring Oral Muscular Targets) trained, a motor-kinesthetic approach which utilizes multi-sensory interventions when working with individuals with speech production disorders.  Her interests include childhood language, phonological disorders, articulation disorders, and apraxia.


 

 

Angela Samaniego, M.S. CCC-SLP


Angela received her Bachelor of Science degree from New Mexico State University in 2003.  Prior to receiving her Master of Science degree in June 2008 from California State University, East Bay, she worked in the public school system for three years as a speech-language specialist. There she worked with children with phonological disorders, speech disorders, language disorders, as well as severe disabilities. She completed her Clinical Fellowship Year at an early intervention center where she gained experience working with children on the autism spectrum.   

She holds a California license in Speech-Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).  Her interests include childhood language, articulation disorders, Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC), and early intervention.
